Financial Benchmarking
At Radley CE Primary School, we are proud of our growth and the vibrant, diverse community we serve. As a one-form entry school with a separate nursery class, we have seen significant increases in pupil numbers, which has brought both opportunities and challenges. One of the critical challenges we face is the impact of the lag funding model on our financial sustainability.
Understanding the Lag Funding Model
The lag funding model means that our school’s funding is based on pupil numbers recorded during the previous October census. This system creates a significant delay in financial resources reflecting our current student population. As a result, we are funded for a number of pupils that is considerably lower than our actual enrolment figures today.
Impact on Our School
-
Deficit Position: Due to the lag in funding, we have found ourselves in a deficit position. This financial strain limits our ability to invest in essential resources, teaching staff, and facilities that would benefit our growing pupil population.
-
Projected Losses: Over the next five years, it is estimated that this funding model will cost Radley CE Primary School approximately £250,000 in lost funding. This substantial amount represents a significant barrier to our goal of providing a rich and fulfilling educational experience for all our pupils.
Our Commitment to Financial Transparency
We believe in being transparent about our financial situation and the challenges we face. As we continue to grow and adapt to the needs of our community, we are committed to finding solutions that will ensure our school can thrive. We are actively exploring alternative funding opportunities and engaging with local authorities to advocate for a more equitable funding model that reflects our current pupil numbers.
At Radley CE Primary School, we are dedicated to creating an environment where all pupils can live life in its fullness. While the lag funding model presents challenges, we remain focused on our vision and values, striving to provide the best possible education for our children.
