Thames (Y5/Y6)

At Radley CE Primary, a Voluntary Aided School, we are proud to offer a dynamic and enriching learning environment for our Year 5 and 6 pupils in Thames Class. Guided by our school's vision of providing a "life in all its fullness," our dedicated teacher, Mr. George Wolstenholme (also known as Mr. W), ensures that each child in Thames Class is given the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.

Nurturing Growth and Independence

As our school has grown from a half to a one-form entry, we have an exciting mix of 8 Year 5 and 12 Year 6 children into Thames Class. Through our topic-based learning approach, we encourage our pupils to take on greater independence and responsibility, preparing them for the transition to secondary education.

Developing the "Radley R's"

At the heart of our curriculum are the "Radley R's" - Resilience, Respect, and Relationships - which align with our school's Christian values and guide our approach to education. In Thames Class, we foster these qualities through a range of engaging activities, from whole-class discussions to individual projects.

Enriching Experiences

To further enrich the learning experience, our pupils in Thames Class have the opportunity to take on school responsibilities, such as being reading ambassadors, worship leaders, eco team members, and ICT monitors. Additionally, they participate in exciting events, including a residential trip in Year 5 or 6, cycling proficiency training, IMPS (Injury Minimization Programme for Schools), and junior citizen visits.

Keeping You Informed

To ensure our parents are kept up-to-date with the happenings in Thames Class, we regularly share updates and photographs in the whole-school newsletter. We value the strong partnership between home and school, and we are committed to providing our families with a warm, family-like atmosphere.

Conclusion

At Radley CE Primary, we believe in nurturing the whole child, fostering their academic, social, and personal growth. In Thames Class, we strive to create an environment where our pupils can truly "live life in all its fullness," as outlined in our school's vision. We welcome you to be a part of our vibrant community and to witness the incredible journey of our Year 5 and 6 learners.
